1600 years ago and 30 feet underground: an Early Christian church
Go downstairs into the darkness of a forgotten world. For about 800 years nobody walked through these galleries, until a brave religious father started digging. He found the original St.Clement’s Basilica, built over 1600 years ago. Frescoes on the walls tell us stories of earthquakes, saints travelling to Russia, a powerful lady painted on the wall and some of the earliest Italian writings ever found.
